STANDARDS

The "Standard" is a tradition in identification whose origins date back to the Roman empire. These flags and symbols were regarded as sacred objects by soldiers whose identities were represented by the complex iconography of these sculptures. The Standard is a common link between coats of arms, family crests, flag iconography, sports team logos, and digital avatars. These works, both subvert and support our collective desires to broadcast personal, political, and spiritual identities.

This expanding series of  sculptures harvests discarded elements from previous works that have been deconstructed or destroyed.
